How Often You Should Change Your Razor Blade - A Guide for Men

Razor blades are one of the most important pieces of personal hygiene you can have. They help you get the job done, and they’re also a necessary part of any good shaving routine. But, how often do you need to change your blade? And, what should you do if you do?

What is the average life of a blade?

The blade of a razor can last anywhere from half an hour to over three days. So, how often should you change it? Generally speaking, a blade can last about five minutes before it needs to be replaced, and then another five minutes before that. But the fact is that most people don't use the same blade for more than a month or two. So, you have to ask yourself: How often do I actually need to change my razor blades? And what should I do if I do? For instance, if you use a single blade for more than three months straight, chances are good that you won't need replacement blades until you're in your 30s. Even though shaving your face may seem like an easy task, it's not always effortless. And as men get older, their skin becomes drier and their facial hair growth increases—this makes it even more important to take care of your shave routine.

How often do you need to change your blade?

There's no right or wrong answer to this question, but there are some guidelines you can follow to help you determine if you should replace your razor blade more often than once a week. For example, if you shave daily and use a cartridge razor, it's probably not necessary to replace your blade as often as once per week. If you shave less frequently and use a straight razor, it may be best to change blades more often.

The important thing is that each type of shaving routine will require different types of blades. And when it comes time to purchase new blades, be sure that they're compatible with the type of cartridge or traditional straight razor that you have.

So how do you change your razor blade?

This varies depending on what kind of razor you use. If you use a cartridge razor you should be able to remove the whole cartridge using a push button then slot the fresh cartridge in. If you're using a double sided razor or cut throat razor you will need to loosen the blade (for a double edge razor this is usually by turning the handle) and for a cut throat razor this is usually by lifting the arm that holds the blade in place.
